Muzo's Gizmo's
We will be looking at a number of different technologies but there will be a practical approach as well. For example, no musician should be without a mini disc recorder/player. These devices are so versatile and easy to use, making it ideal for recording ideas and/or work in progress. The small size of the module and discs means that it is easy to carry around.
We found the Aiwa range to be the most user friendly and reliable but unfortunately Aiwa no longer exists. We have not found another model to compete with the Aiwa but we will let you know what we think of the remaining options.
KORG PXR4
This is a fantastic piece of portable wizardry. 4 audio tracks and 32 virtual tracks plus rhythm section, full graphic equalisation and a useful bank of effects means that you can transform a basic idea into a very advanced concept while on the move and with just a guitar. Ron E. Carter wrote some key tracks to his new rock album on this device. Of course this model may have been suprseded by now but kit of this nature is essential to the serious musician who cannot always have a laptop around when travelling. It also makes a fantastic Christmas present. At around 250 Quid it is not cheap but the facilities it offers makes it worth every penny. |
